Start Your Career in Hotel Housekeeping
Housekeeping Targeted Training is designed for motivated individuals who want to work in the hospitality sector. Developed in cooperation with employers, the programme combines studies at Varia with workplace learning in partner companies in the Helsinki metropolitan area. During the training, you will strengthen your professional competence, become familiar with Finnish working life and hospitality industry practices, and build valuable connections with potential employers.

Education Details
Location
The programme is delivered at Varia’s Hiekkaharju campus: Tennistie 1, 01370 Vantaa.
Study Format
The training is delivered through classroom-based instruction and practical training. Studies take place in authentic learning environments that simulate housekeeping work in hotels and accommodation establishments.
The programme is delivered in English, with one module focusing on Finnish language skills for customer service situations.
Duration
The duration of studies is determined individually in the Personal Competence Development Plan (PCDP/HOKS), which takes previously acquired competence into account. The planned duration of the training is approximately five months.
Students who successfully complete the training receive a certificate for the qualification unit Cleaning Services in Hotel and Accommodation Establishments (15 cp) from the Vocational Qualification in Tourism Industry.
Study Costs
Studies, textbooks, tools and learning materials required for completing the qualification are generally free of charge until the student reaches the age of 20. After that, costs may arise for tools, materials and workwear required for studies, depending on the field. Citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA who begin their studies on or after 1 August 2026 may be subject to tuition fees in upper secondary vocational education.
Career Opportunities
The training prepares participants for housekeeping and room attendant roles in hotels, hostels, serviced apartments and other accommodation establishments.
Further studies
The completed qualification unit can later be recognised as part of the Vocational Qualification in Tourism Industry, should the student decide to continue their studies towards the full qualification.

Training programs are primarily intended for unemployed job seekers living in Vantaa.
