Youth work in educational institutions

The City of Vantaa's educational youth workers work in all Varia vocational school campuses, as well as at Lumo Upper Secondary School. The educational youth workers serve as safe, trusted adults within the school environment.

Introduction

Young people
You can talk with the youth workers about everyday matters, challenges related to your studies, or anything else that's on your mind. When required, they can guide young people to the appropriate support services, such as student welfare services, or help explore meaningful leisure activities together.

Furthermore, the educational youth workers promote a sense of community by organizing activities for the entire educational institution, as well as smaller group activities based on the students…' needs and interests. They arrange a wide range of hobbies and leisure activities for young people, both during the school day and during holidays.

You can meet Varia and Lumo's youth workers in the school hallways, student lounges, and workshops. They actively move around the school corridors, classrooms, and workspaces to meet the students. Working with an educational youth worker is always voluntary
