Free from violence week 20–26.11.2023

Release

The Free from violence week, which has already become a tradition, takes place in Vantaa and Kerava from the 20th to the 26th of November 2023. The purpose of the theme week is to prompt people to think about intimate partner violence, how widespread it is, what consequences it has, and how violence could be prevented.

Violence is a phenomenon that usually affects us all in some way. This year, we discuss amongst other things intimate partner violence experienced by men and boys, what is meant by challenging interactions and how you should act in them, and how each and every one of us can be a safe friend.

Someturvallinen koulu (a social media safe school) web seminar for students

Threats, sharing embarrassing videos, name-calling, fake profiles... How can I intervene if I see bullying online or on social media? Where do I get help? During the free from violence week, schoolchildren are given the opportunity to reflect on issues related to cyberbullying with Someturva experts.

The web seminars are open to all schools and students and last for half an hour. There are five web seminars in all: two for primary school students, two for lower secondary school students and one for Swedish-speaking students. More information: saara.lehtinen@vantaa.fi and info@someturva.fi

#turvallinenkaveri campaign

We challenge day care centres, primary and lower secondary schools, and upper secondary schools to join in on the discussion on what it means to be a safe friend.
