Apprenticeship studies

For an apprenticeship, you need a workplace. You apply for an apprenticeship like for any other job. Apply for a vacancy in a field that interests you.

If you are already working, you can ask your employer about the possibility of an apprenticeship at work. Apprenticeships are free of charge for your employer.

You will be guided by a workplace instructor, appointed to you by your workplace. The workplace instructor is your support person and adviser. An apprenticeship often also includes studying at an educational establishment, like Varia.

An apprenticeship is a fixed-term contract between the employer and the training provider. When you study on an apprenticeship, you have the same rights and obligations as your colleagues.

As an apprentice, you will work at least 25 hours per week. In most cases, your working hours will be the same as normal working hours.

Apprenticeships are free of charge for the student. You will be paid the normal wage according to the work contract.

You will accrue holiday days during your apprenticeship. You are also entitled to occupational health care and insurance coverage from your employer.

Your employer may also pay you for your days at the campus during theory days. If your salary is not paid,  you are entitled to social benefits related to studying, such as a daily allowance, family allowance, travel allowance or accommodation allowance.
